A rootsy three-piece whose sound puts a dark, punk-influenced undertow on the blues, The Yawpers play hard-hitting songs that touch on culture and class as well as the emotional trials of ordinary lives. For over 15 years, The Yawpers have made music that is by turns intimate and anthemic, full of smart storytelling that bears the ring of truth. Otis Wilkins is the moniker songwriter Taylor Wilkins uses when he's not performing in his fuzzed out rock 'n' roll band Otis the Destroyer. Inspired by his father's nickname in college, which he then gave to his first pet dog, the name Otis has always been in the family. His latest record The Power Of Stuff does not completely abandon Wilkins' heavier sound, but leans much more into indie pop and folk sounds to accentuate his literate songs.
